Annoying SRS light!

I followed the procedure in the Helm manual (except I used a jumper wire instead of the special tool). The same procedure xviper referred to. Note that the manual explicitly says not to use a jumper wire, so if you want to be safe, get the special tool.
It may well be easier and safer to just have your friend cough up the bucks to have Honda reset it for you. There is a reason why neither Dave nor I am giving you a step-by-step process description -- we don't know you, or your mechanical and electrical aptitude. If you have enough experience to do the job safely, then you probably already have the Helm manual and the ability to follow the instructions in it. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

I agree with xviper, something caused a code to be thrown, so you should probably figure out what that is first before just trying to clear it. It probably wont clear anyways if problem remains (assuming there is one).

do a search, you can reset it yourself... its not hard:
I think it goes:
ignition off, jump wire, ignition on, wait for srs to stop blinking, unjump, wait for srs to blink once after a few secs, jump again, wait for stop blinking, unjump. As i recall. i did it a long time ago...

It may be worth noting that before you clear your code you can actually check which SRS code is being thrown. I have done this in an 02 Civic EX. The directions I followed were for an RSX. I used a paperclip to short pins 4 and 9 on the OBDII connector. After the jumper wire is in place turn on the ignition to the II position. The SRS light will blink out a long, short code (mine was 7.2, lookup code in service manual 23-20). After the code is retrieved turn off ignition and locate MES connector in cabin fusebox. I believe it is yellow and has two pin interface. If you have helms service manual the procedure is on page 23-19. This is the connection you must jump in order to clear the code. I did it with a paperclip also, I was a little nervous and have since bought the little SCS jumper tool from Honda for like 4 or 6 dollars should I ever need to repeat the procedure. The reset is: with the ignition off jump the MES connector. Turn the ignition on. The SRS indicator will come on for about 6 seconds then go off, Remove the jumper within 4 seconds of the SRS light going off. The SRS light will come back on again, re-jump the MES connector within 4 seconds of the SRS light coming back on. When the SRS light goes off again remove the jumper a final time within 4 seconds. The SRS light will blink two times indicating the SRS DTC has been erased. Turn off ignition and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on again to confirm SRS light only comes on for about 6 seconds and goes off by itself.
You may want to at least buy Honda's little SCS jumper tool to try this. Also I don't know for certain if PINs 4 and 9 are the correct PINs to jump on the OBDII of an 01 S2000's ECU. Someone else on this board jumped the wrong PINs on an OBDII connector with unwanted results. I don't think his car would start afterwards. However I think he tried to go PIN 1 to ground.

Just tried this and it worked very well.
My code was also a 7-2.
Curious if others that have had this code saw it return. It's been very cold the past few weeks here, and I'm wondering if this is a sign that I may need a new battery.
