This is annoying me...
My 01' is making a noise that chirps like a belt slipping on a pulley when shifting at redline/wot. There is no clutch slip (car only has 59k miles) and it doesn't cause any issues, just makes the noise, which I can hear over my FIPK and muffler-delete.
Anyone else?? Of the 4 AP1s I have owned, none of the others have ever done this.

You answered you own question. Check your belt tension/ wear indicator.

P.S. Gotta ask...4 AP1's? S2AP1DD? LOL. The funniest threads to me here are where folks "upgraded to AP2"....... I laugh and laugh!

I get this sound also only if i let off the clutch too fast in second at high rpms. Just a quick chirp not tires. I just figured I need to let off the clutch slower. It made the noise twice since I have owned it. If the belt replacement helps let us know. My belt could use replacement soon.
Good luck.
Good luck.

It happens every time I shift at redline, and my belt isn't worn anywhere near the end of the box. I have a vented hood so it's very obvious it's coming from under the hood. And I guess it is possible that it could be coming from the bell housing but I just wonder why it's never happened on any of my other S'.
And yeah, 4 AP1s. I've driven multiple AP2s and just couldn't make the switch as the 9K redline actually means something to me, along with the quicker steering, stiffer suspension, etc. Stuck on the original

I hope it is the belt my belt is just right of the line but less than half way into box maybe 1/3 into box.
Mine only happened twice as stated when I first got car and only shifting into 2nd at redline. I did kinda dump clutch when it happened made a chirp but more of a squeak like rubber. I just let off clutch pedal slower now. I have just over 100k ap1 02 aftermarket exhaust other than that stock. I'm not sure if clutch has been replaced I think its original. It seems to hold strong with no issues.
Seeing you have had many s2000 I am waiting to see what you find. Be nice if its the belt could very well be.
Spinning at 9k then dropping off into new gear under load with the delta rpm and load it does not surprise me there is a squeak or two. who knows.
Hope you figure it out.

Mine was doing the same thing and it ended up being the tensioner pulley. It was only like $10 at Orielly's. If you pop the hood and rev the car up you should be able to replicate the sound. Hope this helps

I appreciate the feedback and I'll give it a shot, but so far, the only time I get the noise is under load when shifting in the red... Will examine and report back.
