annoying cel lights (misfire)
Hi guys,
I've been frustrated to hell with these cel codes p0300(random misfire)/p0301(cyl#1 misfire)/p0302(cyl#2 misfire).
I checked my plugs and they are good, still brand new. I replaced the plugs around the time i did my valve adjustment which was roughly 2000 miles ago. I also tried switching my coil packs and fuel injectors around to different cylinders, Still no luck and shows me the same cel codes.
So I bought this car 2 years ago and only drove 2000 miles because of the car throwing cel codes. It sometimes doesnt show up for 400-800 miles, all the other times its pops up ever 5 miles.
It would be great if you guys can throw in your opinion on what it might be.

I'll bet you're having valve issues. I'm seeing it more and more these days. People don't do their valve adjustment maintenance soon enough and end up burning valves, wearing guides, and distorting seats. Where are you located OP? If you're local to either myself or Billman (In the Northeast), either one of us could do a full diagnosis and come up with a game plan for repair.

Ur next step is a dry compression test follow by a wet test. It will tell u if ur rings are good or bad. If they are good, then most likely u have bent valves. A leakdown test will tell which valves. Goodluck.

Screw a compression test. I wouldn't even bother. They can leave a whole lot of questions unanswered.
Warm the car and do a leak down test. You will have a much better indication of where your compression is going (Rings, Intake/Exhaust Valves, Head Gasket, etc). I can't even count the number of cars that have come in with perfect compression results that had major leakage on one or more valves. The only time I ever even use my compression tester is when the car is running properly (no codes) to get an actual number for the customer. It will not help you diagnose anything definitive however.
