Amuse R1 dual outlet - will it fit the MY04?
First post in UTH, despite my having being reading and posting on s2ki for almost two years!
Even now, I'm not sure it's the right place so, mods, please feel free to shift it if that's the case. I just thought I'd get a better chance of an informed reply if I posted here rather than in S2000 Talk.
I'm very interested in the Amuse R1 dual outlet, but am unclear whether it will fit on the MY04. I know a number of other manufacturers have had to re-design their exhaust systems since the hangers are in different places on the 04 compared to the 99-03, and the rear valance is different and so might not accommodate the exhausts designed for earlier versions.
I'm struggling to find out however whether Amuse either supply an R1 dual outlet specifically for the 04 or whether the existing 99-03 model will fit the 04. I've e-mailed the S2000 specialist at Bulletproof Automotive but it has been three days and no reply. Anyone have any ideas?

What you should find out is if there is any differance in the MY04 in your part of the world. My guess would be no. You still have the 2.0L engine. But you never know for sure. maybe you can look at the exaust on an early model and see if your is differant.
You might want to PM "turbo_pwr". The last time I looked he was the S2000 specialist at Bulletproof Automotive. He might be trying to get your question anwsered before he replies.

Thanks Stratocaster. I hadn't realised that the S2000 specialist there was also on the board - I'll drop him a line.
(I know these things sometimes take time to answer - I guess I'm just impatient )
As far as differences between the USDM and EDM 04s goes, I'm pretty sure that the only difference is that we retain the F20C while you guys get the F22C.
I had an 02 before the 04 and, from what I've been able to see, the exhaust looks to be the same, other than the different cans of course, and that the hangers are in a different place (as on the USDM model). (I stand to be corrected though).
I've read on here though that some 99-03 exhaust will still fit on the 04 (I think the Spugen dual will, and I also remember seeing someone had managed to make the 99-03 Mugen fit, even though Mugen have released an 04 specific exhaust now) so I was trying to get an idea of whether the Amuse R1 is one of those that can be made to fit, even if not designed for the 04 hangers.

The exhaust hangers on the body of the 04 are in the same place. The main problem is the bumper, as the bumper openings are smaller than the previous cars.
If the exhaust is close to the 00-03 bumpers, it won't fit the 04.
Something to keep in mind if you get a dual exhaust, the rearmost exhaust hangers on the 04 are different. I have a single exhaust on mine, (Apex'i N1) and had to use the front muffler hanger from the driver's side on the rear of the muffler.

Mark, as you may know I have the dual Amuse on my 02 & was told by Brian
that it would fit the 04 with a little tinkering & maybe longer rubbers (oooh er)
just my 2p. also get the single with one of Ricks covers

We have tried the Borla and one other brand from '00-03 on an 04 and the fitment at the rear bumper was not the same. It was off by quite a bit mostly on the drivers side. The fitment difference was confirmed by the Borla engineers.
