AquilaEagle, I'm not sure if replacing the section with a stainless steel pipe is possible. I would think it is but I'm not 100% certain.

Yes, the sound will be noticably louder, like the R1 Titan.

I haven't seen the inside of the resonator, however I think its basically packed fiberglass.

The resonator is a big empty shell with two perforated sections of pipe. The pipe pieces do not touch but are in alignment.

I'm really curious how a cross-section of this looks.

I've found a place in the UK who might be able to help me, spoke to a guy who is very helpful. I'll see if I can get them to take pics of the process and the cross section. Would you guys be interested in this info?

Truly sad to read this thread, I was in the market for an Amuse exhaust but after finding out this defect which is fairly common I'll be shopping for something else.

Bump, for anyone else who is in my position, would hate to see someone pay thousands of dollars and get this problem.

No buzz here, but am interested in seeing what's inside the resonator.

I'm no expert but I would doubt that you could weld SS to Ti.

My Dual Titan Extra is an older model, before they updated the center resonator. It developed a crack and rattle in the resonator, so I replaced it with a straight piece of titanium. To me it was a little too quiet with the resonator, now it's perfect with the straight pipe. If you are getting a dual I recommend the non-extra version.
