I looked at all their options, including the racing and EU formula oils, and decided that the signature (in 5w-30) was the way to go (combined with an oem filter). I daily my car and try to attend events that allow me to drive it as hard as possible as often as possible. Originally I was changing the fluid every 3k, but after a stern lecture about how I was pretty much wasting money and could go 7500 between changes and did not have to change the filter every time, I split the difference and now change my oil every 5k and the filter every other change. I've never had a single issue, and I've used it since picking up my S with less than 30k on it. A year and more than 30k later(I drive a LOT) and the S is still running as smoothly as the day I picked it up, and has never burned a drop. I also use their diff fluid & have been very happy with that as well. Just my experience, and hope it helps.

Why would the XL be better than the signature if they price it cheaper?

Signature is their "top tier" oil. If you are going to spend the money for Amsoil, why not get the best product you can? Otherwise it would just be better to grab some Royal Purple locally. Also, buying a preferred membership is definitely worth it, as well as looking to see if they have a warehouse near you, so that you can save on the shipping by picking it up.

The "Sig" series ( as stated above) is the Amsoil top-of-the-line.Many owners use this series of Amsoil.I personally use the "Sig" 0w30 in my S2k,Z06 & GST.The CRV & EXV both use the 0w20.

ALL my cars listed below have used Amsoil since 1st fluid change.

In a nutshell 0 weight and to a lesser extent 5 weight will allow the oil to flow to where it needs to be faster. The whole point is to provide the best lubrication to the parts as quickly as possible under all possible conditions - therefore 0 (or 5) weight and synthetic. Once heated it will all be the same 30 weight.

0 or 5 is a personal preference. (Example I use 5w30 now, but onece my stroker kit is installed, I'll be switching to 0w30, just for that added bit of peace of mind.) If you aren't FI or tracking your S (as a generalization) you don't particularly need 0w40/5w40, but again this is a generalization and preference./endhalfassedsummaryhopeithelps
