Amsoil OE
#31
I bought a case of 10w 30 Signature series, Will Post pictures of my setup in the near future.
However, I'm still gonna do the 6 month oil change for now. Will be autocrossing/track driving, spirited driving the car alot.
Just gonna follow the recommended oil change intervals per owners manual.
The signature series is marketed to be 25k mile or 1 year.....so the 40000 mile oil change is pretty insane.
I wont ever make 25k miles a year...even my daily driver makes only 10k miles per year.
So if I were to push my Oil Change, it would be only to once per year if I were to follow recommendation of Honda owner's manual + Marketing of Amsoil.
Will do a Black Stone test next year.

Good choice. Look forward to seeing any used oil analysis results in the future. Enjoy

I'll fix these numbers for you, using the very cheap Amsoil membership, which you should have anyway because it provides net savings on your differential gear oil, and you can use it to buy dirt cheap OE-level oil for your daily.
So there you go, Amsoil is over $700 cheaper over time, and you didn't have to leave your house once to get it, and you didn't have crap oil thinning out on you on track.
Amsoil signature series @ $7.85/qt
5 qt per oil change (low estimate)
7.85 x 5 = $39.25 per oil change (if DIY)
+ $5 averaged shipping cost when you buy by the dozen.
200,000 easy miles on any well maintained motor, on average, let's say
5,000 mi/OCI (including nothing but track days and canyon carving)
200,000 / 5,000 = 40 oil changes x $39.35 = $1770 including shipping
Same motor, miles, half the OCI because the track torched it, but using let's say Castrol Edge Syntec with Titanium additive = $25.00 per 5 qt at walmart (plus a million trips to Malwart over the years)
This is 80 x $25 = $2,000 plus an additional 40 oil filters @ $12 each because you had to change the oil 40 more times = $2,480

Not including oil filters, according to your numbers, the cost of Amsoil is $20 more per oil change than Mobil 1 or $26 more than Penn Synthetic at Wal Mart.
The annual trans and diff change I will spend the extra $ and run down to the dealer and pick up some Amsoil with other errands.
Meh.
Recommendation from Bob is the Oil Guy 30 Grade:
Mobil One 0W-30
Penn (Any) Synthetic 5W-30
Red Line 5W-20 (a thick 20 grade oil)*
Renewable Lubricants Inc. 0W-30*
With all the race cars he has, its too bad he runs "crap oil that thins out".

I'm in Vegas, and I go down to the Motor Speedway to pick up my case of fluids.....
Also grabbed some free Amsoil Stickers to put all over my car!!!
Buying normal stuff or the Amsoil....would cost about the same, only thing is that I would still need to get Differential Oil, and that means I would still need to buy from Amsoil, unless I want the Redline or Mobil 1 stuff...which means I would still need to order online either way
Funny thing is, a case of 12 quarts Amsoil is cheaper than buying 3 x 1 gallon of Amsoil Oil. It is actually a little bit cheaper $1 or so compared to the Extended Performance Mobil 1, or the Castrol Edge Extended Performance. Only difference is now I can also get differential oil with it as well, and all these UOA that seem to back up what Amsoil claims.
I still use Mobil 1, Shell Rotella in my GTI though...as that is my Daily Driver. Perhaps my next car will also get Amsoil treatment.
