AMSOIL 10W30 impressions after 6K miles
#11
So my ap1 burns a quart every 1k miles like most ap1's do. So I add 1quart of new oil every 1k. I'm Thinking just change filter every 7k or so and keep oil topped off. Seeing your always adding new oil. A complete dump and change seems to be a waste of oil and money.
Your thoughts? Bad idea??

So, look and feel of the oil is an acceptable way to judge how well the oil is doing and how long it can stay in a motor?
I go 7500 miles / oil and filter change in the wife's MDX so I'm not saying that that interval isn't acceptable but the look and feel is how you're judging when yours is due to be changed?
Look and feel?
edit: after a reread, color too?

Oil colour, feel, or smell is not a very scientific or accurate way to judge the remaining life of used oil. Plain and simple.
