Default Am I popping flames?

Today as I cleaned the soot off my rear bumper, I noticed some areas of deformed plastic. Also the black trim at the bottom of my AP1 bumper is wrapped in carbon look vinyl, and it is melted beyond recognition. I am running a Skunk2 Megapower single with an invidia 70 test pipe. Is it possible that I am letting loose the stray flame here and there? I don't want to wind up with my rear bumper on fire. I always thought my muffler tip sat slightly too inward of the bumper . . . .

Looks like your car is poping flames. Dont worry about it too much. Try adjusting the exhaust if you can to move it farther out. Or you could get a HFC or stock cat and that will stop it.

The rotary like the RX-7 dumps fuel when off throttle to cool they system so they shoot massive fire off throttle that lingers. Even under full throttle they have a small flame on the race cars.

Good to know, I feel a little better about it now anyways. I'm gonna rig up my GoPro to try to catch it in the act and see what kind of hazard I may be dealing with before I go adjusting hangers and whatnot . . . .

I doubt you are popping flames and if you were I doubt they would linger long enough to melt your bumper.. My guess is that your exhaust is moving under load or something and getting close enough to melt the plastic..

But use the go pro and find out for real, all we can do is speculate.. Upload the video here too!

No flame...sorry. You have a mismatch between the lower CF piece which is for a perpendicular exit and your pipe which appears to be at 30-45 degree exit.

From the picture I can only assume that it's not flame by the sharp edges. Also, IIRC 3m vinyl has a melting point around 225*F
