Maybe I wasn't clear enough when I said "as long as you treat the vehicle right" and "unless I hit a huge pothole"?

Maybe we have different definitions of the term "treat the vehicle right" I drive the car daily and drive it everywhere.

My current S2k Ive done 2 alignments in the 12k miles Ive had it. 67,000 the current 79,000.

My old S2k had 7 or 8 alignments in 22k miles. Finally I replaced the lower A arm compliance bushings. That REALLY helped the car hold an alignment better. Bought at 100k and totaled at 122k.

Even though this thread is 8 yrs old, I'll add to it.

You have a VERY good chance of holding your alignment for many tens of thousands of miles, if the guy doing the alignment MAKES THE BOLTS TIGHT ENOUGH. All the bolts sit in slots. It's how you align a car. If they are not tight enough, they will move in the slot. Plain and simple.

The original guy who started this thread did not have his control arm bolts tight enough. This is why he heard the pop noise, and the steering wheel went off-center.

Almost every car I align, that has been done before, the bolts are not tight enough.

I CHECK my alignment regularly. It has held for 50k miles, because I aligned it myself. And it has seen plenty of really hard driving and potholes.

Love the Drift button in your sig! That's classic.

I agree - I've had two alignments in 7+ years, both only because I was changing springs and thus had disassembled the suspension. I get nice even tire wear all 'round.
