One quart every 3k miles is hardly excessive oil consumption. [/QUOTE]
I think he is loosing a little more than a quart isn't he?

According to my book for my '02 it takes 5 quarts of oil! I assume that all S2000 have the same capacity.

Therefore if he is draining a little under 3 quarts. ( the rest of that third quart is probably in the filter) He is missing about 2 quarts! This may be a problem. I don't know but I think I would look into it if I were him

O.P. You may want to talk to a reputable mechanic, but I think I would check the valve guides and seals, while you are there do a valve adjustment and maybe do a compression check just to be sure. Like I said....2 quarts in 3k miles of non agressive driving sounds a little much.

Best of luck to you!

Its almost as if marlonRocks wants there to be a problem

First the assumption that only 3 quarts came out during the change.
How did you measure that?
And you never added any oil during those 6k miles?
And you never checked in between?
(have you seen your owners manual? It recommends an oil level check at every gas fill up..... )
Are you sure it was at the top X after the first change you mentioned 6k miles ago?
How much oil did you use to get to that level in the first place?

IMO this engine is just a regular AP1 F20C2 that uses about a quart every 3k miles.
No big deal.
Just keep the level up by checking it during every gas fill up and add when needed and stick to your regular 6k mile OCI.
Have fun with your S2000

Unless the OP shows some decent records about how much oil was added over how many miles, I'm sticking to my IMO.
(but it seems the OP wasn't interested in my answer in the first place, so...)

i appreciate the replies...anyway to answer your question, i let my mechanic change my oil previous to me changing it...and i never added any oil in between, also, i never checked my oil on a regular basis, until now...it's not that i want there to be a problem, i'm just preparing for the worst
