Open up the alternator and swap out the parts. It's not like we can give you a blow by blow account on how to open one up, just grab a service manual to see an exploded view, or just start disassembling.
I bought my 2006 S2000 new in Nov 2006. After about a year of ownership, I drove the S at at track day. The flickering instrument panel started after one of the sessions. I put up with it for years and finally changed the rectifier (a ~$200 part within the ~$1000 alternator, which fixed the problem) in Apr 2011. Not sure if it was just a fluke or if it was related to the continuous high revs of track day driving. I'll post back if it reoccurs (next track day is in a few weeks).

Just bringing this back up hoping someone has a DYI on how to replace the rectifier.

Today when I was approaching a dip, car was in neutral, I look down and saw that my car wasn't on and it shut off. It turn back on immediately after and continue on to my garage.

In the garage, I notice that my gauge was lightly flickering at idle however with any increase in RPM, the flickering went away.

Nothing has been changed to the car. I'm assuming this is the rectifier in the alternator that needs to be replaced. I looked up the price of an alternator and dang its over 1k or 900 at invoice.

Is it hard to remove the alternator? and can someone confirm that this is my issue?

had a chance to look at the service manual last night. It isn't too bad removing the alternator and taking it apart. I'll be ordering the part.

Today driving to work, i can't tell at all if the gauge is flickering. Yesterday when it flicker, you can't really tell at all, its very sutle. You have to really look up close.

Can it be heat related?

just want to make sure this part is the problem or if I have other issue. can someone confirm please. Thank you.

Since posting this up last week, the symptom somehow went away At idle, the faint flicker isn't there anymore.

I'm going to check the grounding point and cleaning it out. The grounding point is in the front passenger side?
