Is there suppose to be a low hissing/whining sound when u step on the throttle when you're driving (In the interior)? Also, is there suppose to be a sputtering sound coming from the exhaust tip at idle (You can only hear it if you stand directly behind the car)? When I had an ek Civic hatch, it did the same thing but it didn't have a cat. convertor or a test pipe. FWIW, here's what mods I have:
Mugen header & N1 ecu
Spoon/Type One s/s test pipe
Amuse titanium single-outlet exhaust
BTW, I can confirm it's true from what I've read online about the test pipe w/a single-outlet exhaust...You can see a flame coming out the exhaust tip when shifting (Sometimes)! For some reason, my friend said his gf & him both saw a blue flame coming out my exhaust tip. The only thing I can think why that'd be the case's that the titanium material of the Amuse exhaust causes this. Thanks for the help!

the waffle material in the stock cat will keep flames from emitting out the exhaust. With a test pipe all of the raw fuel is being shot out of your exhaust and sometimes ignited. As for the noise, most test pipes are mad from a thinner material than the stock exhaust pipe and will make a strange noise while you are driving.. FLAMES KICK ASS!! Try letting off the gas at 8700rpm then tap it slightly BOOM!!

I have a 3" exhaust with no cat (The best PART OF WAKIN' UP, is some fuel in your lungs!! god I love it!) and periodically there is a deep pop between shifts and and occasional pop at idle. I love it, it sounds really deep and mean.. Makes domestics cower in fear......
