This first happened three days ago with my wife. Twice, at night, while she was changing her brights by using the column lever, all lights and she thinks power to the engine cut off for less than a second then back on. I tried the car the next morning before daylight, and it did the same thing once, though I switched the brights on and off several times. It did happen when putting brights on. Lasted about 1/4 - 1/2 second and then back on with all dash lights lighting up when you start the car. I believe power was lost to the engine but it was so quick that I am not certain. Car is an 06, 119,000 miles, daily driver. Friend had a similar problem in an Isuzu and it cost him $2600 in labor at a dealer to find a short in the wiring. Engine light is on now where it wasn't before and I haven't gone to Autozone to get the code yet.

If it set a code then that's what is needed here for advice. On the upside the issue can be reproduced so it should be fairly easy to resolve. Get the current and any pending OBD-II codes from auto zone, reilly's, etc. Should be free as they want to sell you fix it parts.

P.S. Your friend must not be very bright as that price is ridiculous. At 50 bucks an our and 8 hours a day that's says it took 6.5 days to identify GF. That's why we have this board so post up....
