Swapped All Coils and Spark Plugs...motor is running like a champ and the check engine light turned off.

I will be cautiously watching my speedometer.

I'm assuming the bottom of the spark plug was already thrown out with the exhaust??? The spark plugs were NGK and the previous owner had them installed so not completely my fault. Hopefully, I'm lucky and I don't have any cylinder wall damage...I had the car towed as soon as the Check Engine Light came on. Should I hear or feel any symptoms from Cylinder Wall Damage...like I said the Engine is running beautifully...or is Cylinder Wall damage a gradual effect?

The Spark Plug Thread is fine, I was able to Torque the new Spark Plug.

Isn't the cylinder wall and piston completely sealed...wouldn't that Spark Plug electrode just burn through the exhaust path?

I think the Coil failed me, because if the Spark Plug was loose then this would have happened two months ago, when I purchased the car...? There was no carbon deposit, it was clean. Piston did not hit the Spark Plug because it would have caused more damage. My worst case scenario would have been a MESSED UP VALVE, correct?

Its funny how these threads come up at the same time.

Dont be next everyone, check your plug torque.

I think this type of thing probably happens when someone "checks" their plugs. The little washer that gets compressed when the plugs are new, is obviously compressed already when you take out your plug, so when put back in, it's not gonna be as good, so correct torque is then more critical. Especially when it's in a really high reving engine like in the S. I had a look at my plugs a few weeks back and two were loose! One of them, really loose, so I'd say I was nearly in the same boat. I'd certainly agree that this will be the cause of this. Just a failing coil doesn't blow your plug to bits, it just causes crappy or no fire.

Chad.

Everything was working fine until yesterday. Gas cut off, car turned off, Check Engine Light came on, could not turn car back on. Had car towed home.

Scanned Codes..these two popped up:
P1361 - Top Dead Sensor 1
P1366 - Top Dead Sensor 2

I replaced them from my other Ap1 motor.
Check Engine Light turned off, but car will still not turn on.

Any ideas???

Go to your local AutoZone and rent their tool to check for compression testing. Use the tool, turn over the car for 3 seconds and let it sit for 10min to see if the pressure goes down.

I am about to run the compression test, I'll keep you posted.

ok car won't turn on anymore...no crank...cams aren't spinning...opening up valve cover today...fearing for the worst hopefully it's just the timing chain.

I assure you, 100%, the coil did not fail. The spark plug was loose, for a long time. The result is that cylinder runs way lean as it sucks addition air past the threads. The plug tip runs white hot, and melts off bit by bit into the cylinder. You will also have a blow-torch effect as S2oooNvegas stated.

This is not a guess, it is all fact.

Ok thanks Billman...that's the type of info I'm looking for...and S2000Vegas I agree with you all these problems have to be related and I am fearing for the worst - internal problems...here's a pic... can anyone tell me what is going on!?!?!? The cam was pushed outward toward the wall of the engine...it seems? Or is this normal...motor still cranks...so timing chain did not completely snap...is it only loose?
