Aircon Funky smell somthing like mold or mildew
Hi everyone. Im new to this forum. Would like some help here.
When I first switch on the aircon there is a weird smell and it goes off after a while. I read up some places and they asked to get those sprays where it clears the smell. I went to pepboys and they asked me to use QUEST ODOR OUT. I got this item and the instructions asked to:-
ensure the aircon is recirculating. use a napkin and hold the paper under the passenger side dash to locate the a/c intake duct.the suction created by the a/c will pull the paper material against the intake duct. Point hose into the intake air duct and release odor out for 10 seconds. Also, locate the outside air duct that pulls air into the A/C
I have no idea where these 2 ducts are. I tried getting under the passenger side dash. but dun seem to be able to find the location.
any1 can help me by telling me where exactly shud i be spraying this or if better still have any pictures to show where these 2 locations are..
thanks and appreciate your help guys.

Once the problem is fixed, you can maybe do what I do to prevent your car from having the bad smell again.
When I am not using AC, I aleays keep the climate control with the fresh air mode and the vents open for the dash and feet. This keeps fresh air always running through the car.
When using AC, you can adjust fans, vent and fresh or re-circulation mode to your preference. However I set and used the AC, I would personally change to fresh air mode about couple miles or 5 minutes before I arrive on my destination and turn off the AC right before I park my car. After car is parked, I change the vents to the dash and feet and set the fan to max until I get air blowing at the normal outside temperature. The reason for this is to release any pressure in the AC line and also remove any condensed moisture in the vent system.
I don't know if my way of using AC is the absolute correct way but by doing this, I never had any issue with that moldy smell from using the AC or heater.
