I hesitated bringing this up but now that it has...

I bought one of the JR Air Filters and it is not a drop in!

Maybe I'm the exception rather than the rule here but I define "drop in" as simply that -- DROP IN, i.e., requires very little to no: crushing, squeezing, cramming, jamming, cutting, or whatever to install.

By my definition the JR Air Filter is certainly not a drop in. I have not complained or requested my money back because, quite frankly, I can survive the $65 loss or whatever it was. However, I will be much more wary in the future about buying merchandise online.

Maybe I'm just more exacting than most people!

Mine dropped in with no problems at all. It was 60 degrees F in my garage when I put it on but it took all of 5 minutes. No band-aids, cursing, or misc. other bvllsh!t to make it work! Quality is also excellent.

Some cramming definitely required here but I think I got the airbox to seal up OK. I may give it another go when the weather warms up. If there's a performance gain it's pretty subtle. I didn't expect too much - but had to do it anyway.

I had the easy install too. We put mine in at the Manhattan Beach, CA get together. 60 F day. Took the cover off, popped out the old filter, spent 20 seconds fitting the new filter and we were done. It does take a push, and I could see it being tough in cold weather, but it was a install and forget mod.

I think Richard dyno'd 2 hp worth of gains. Combined with the reusability, it's probably worth it.

While I live in N. Calfornia, temps have been close to 32 deg. My JR filter arrived in mid-January. Having read Luis' caution about the mounting post, I applied light grease to both the post and the stack that is inserted in the air tube. Worked great. A little lubrication goes a long way.

Mine dropped in at ~35F. I had no problems with the stock air box and am very, very please with the unit.
As to Pinky's question, can there be a difference with the stock air box. The dyno tells the tale. Mingster posted the printout a few weeks back. It seems to make more difference that the CAIs that I have seen dynoed on this board. I believe that it seems to rev a little smoother, that of course is my perception, but again look at the dyno sheets.

To all who had a tough fit- you might check to see if there is a problem in your air box.

Well if any of you guys that are having problems with your JR filter wanna sell it, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands. I'm taking delivery of my stook Monday and already I'm ready to start modifying!
