aftermarket muffler with stock piping

aftermarket muffler with stock piping
does anyone have any experiences with using an aftermarket muffler welded to the stock piping. i'm contemplating using 2 magnaflow mufflers on my stock pipes. the magnaflow really nice on my supercharged k-series.
basically my question is if the stock piping and bends are free flowing enough to warrant just replacing the mufflers. also, does anyone have any opinions on other makes that work well in this instance? i.e. sound, gains, any droning?
