I dropped an access panel bolt when doing it. Damn thing went right to the ground under the car. No wonder it's so loud in the cockpit, it's a big open hole covered by a flat piece of plastic.

I would just remove the seats, it just 4 bolts. It got to be a little easier with the seats out.

Obviously someone who hasn't tried it.

The seats don't get in the way, the roll bars do. The seats at least give you a place to kneel.

uh oh, and I thought removing and modifying the intake manifold was hard. I thank all of you for your input and will keep everyone posted on the outcome,

The other "gotcha" in replacing the fuel pump is the damn metal hole cut above the gas tank. Honda doesn't use a grinder to smooth out the edge and its a genuine annoyance to slice your hand open right before you dunk it into the gas tank.

I pulled the spare tire and yanked the pump out through the trunk. It was easier for me. And I didn't have to take a stinky fuel pump out through the interior of the car.

I have the Walbro 255high preassure in my car. Its quite loud, but a must have if going FI.

The fuel pump install isnt bad provided you prep for the job.

Get door edge molding from pepboys or use some tape around the hole used to access the pump area. As already mentioned, its razer sharp and I still have scars to prove it. If you remove the spare tire and and trim pieces you can slide the tray out thru the trunk. Make sure to cover the area around the access hole with plastic like a garbage bag to avoide spilling gas in the car. Also have a long cookie sheet or small basin to put the pump in, as you remove it from the car it will drain out a little.

The job takes around 45 min if you are mechanically inclined and probably shouldnt be attempted otherwise.

If you go with the walbro unit, use the filter that comes off the stock pump and youll understand why when you compare them.

Remember to flush out the stock pump so it doesnt get gummed up incase you need it in the future.
