Default Aftermarket dip stick?

So after wrestling with trying to figure out what the rough noise was coming from my engine bay, I decide to do an oil change today. I wasnt due for an oil change for another 1k miles or so, but i picked up some amsoil 10w30 and figured id give it a shot.
I didnt think it was low since every time I checked my dipstick, it appeared to read full.

So I drail the oil.... AND ONLY 2 QTS OF OIL COME OUT.

The s2k dipstick is just not very good IMO. Anyone else experience this?

I've never heard of that. Not saying it can't happen, but I can't say that I've ever heard about it. You're 100% positive that you have an OEM dipstick?

are you sure you have an OEM one and its OEM to the S2K? Could possibly an OEM one from another honda.

did you lower the car on a flat surface after removing the drain bolt? if you only have two qts of oil in there, you would have blown your engine and im pretty sure the oil light should have come on... right?

I would have thought so as well.. I put the front end on ramps, and jacked up the rear end so that the car was level.

Im pretty sure the dipstick is OEM

I dont think its the dipstick...you probably rubbed some oil on the walls of the dipstick tube getting it out, getting a small amount on the reader part, making it read incorrectly. I always check it about 3 times to make sure that doesn't happen.

IMO s2k honda dipstick is one of the best designs I ever seen. Easy to read, put in, take out, and clean. I really like it.
