I was just curious if others with an aftercooled supercharger have coolant spitting out there filler cap on the aftercooler.I just finished installing my vortech kit.I purged all of the air out of the system and filled it to the base of the filler neck.After i ran it for about 15 minutes it seeped out coolant past the aftercooler cap.The seal is fine and the cap is tight.Am i overfilling the system?

Mine is also filled right to the base of the filler neck. It has remained there without change for over 20 months - no leaks at all. Are you sure the cap is in good shape? Is the little seal inside the cap present and accounted for? Another thing to check might be the direction of flow of the coolant. Did you possibly reverse the hoses going in and out of the pump? It's not a high pressure pump, so I find it hard that it would be pushing coolant out the cap. Maybe you've got a blockage someplace.

Vortech refers to the coolant tank as an expansion chamber so I would suggest you not fill it quite so full. If it is down 1/2 inch or more is no biggy. After running it for a few days add some coolant and repeat but you can leave it below the neck.

Did mount the pump with the outlet facing "up" slightly? (just like the install directions say) I've seen another Vortech kit that was installed with the pump below the aftercooler reservoir. It was an almost impossible to bleed all the air out of the system because of this little detail.

The pump outlet is facing up and the pump is slightly above the resevoir.I installed the pump EXACTLY the way the instructions say.After the initial seepage i checked it the next morning.I could see the aftercooler fins ,so i topped off the cooler to the filler neck base and ran the car again for about half of an hour.I got some seepage again but not as much as the first time.Ill check it again the next time i go and visit the car.

I mounted my pump such that it is the lowest piece to the whole coolant system:

I wonder if yours being higher than the reservoir may have something to do with what's going on with your set-up.

My Copmtech did this to when I first put it on. After the intial fluid overflowed out it stopped doing it. Took maybe a week or 2. Mostly did it when it was hot.

Yeah I had my vortech do this too, I think its a matter of "break in" time, usually about 100 miles
