After engine removal, F20C wont start
Info that may alter thinking:
02 AP1 F20C
Ultimate racing turbo kit
Greddy E-Manage w/E-01
Prestige Aftermarket Car alarm APS-15CH
World Electronics Boost controller w/turbo timer
Notes:
All above electronics were untouched between removal and instalation. The only electronics that were altered were the boost gauge and oil pressure gauges. We replaced the Autometer cobalt gauges for Aem gauges. We also installed an AEM wideband gauge. We also relocated the World Electronics controller, but nothing was changed wiring wise.
The problem:
After removing the entire swap and building up the short block, we have no spark. The motor cranks, we get fuel but no spark. All engine grounds are in the correct stock location.
Suspecting problems:
We noticed that when we turn the ignition from off to on, that the spark plugs fire ONCE, then after that we have no spark at all.

crank sensor is plugged in and mounted in the correct location.
When we got teh shortblock back, the lower chain cover was on and the motor was at TDC. as long as it is bolted in that should be ok right?
Did a lil bit of searching. We will recheck the chain timing soon to be sure that is not the problem

all 3 sensors (both cams and crank) are plugged in.
We just checked timing. That is 100% correct. Im going to search to make sure we have the intake cam on the intake side and the exhaust cam on the exhaust side.
One of the cam gears has a ring around the cam gear, is that the intake cam or the exhaust cam?

after viewing this picture
we found out that the intake cam is on the exhaust side, and the exhaust cam is on the intake side. Give us a few minutes to swap the cams and we will see what happens

I had the EXACT same problem, i was so sure the timing was 100% correct. when my mechanic checked it the exhaust cam was off 1 tooth. triple check the timing and make sure your using the timing marks on the crank pulley.

car now runs. We had the cams in th wrong spots. We swapped them and it started right up!
Valve train makes a lil more noise than normal, but we will do a valve lash.
Thanks everyone
