Any sound difference going to K&N or AFE drop in replacements over the stock filter? From the threads I've read, it appears the stock box is pretty efficient.
Pricewise, are the AFEs in the same price range as K&N?
I'm still on the fence as to if I should go with a drop in replacement filter like the AFE or to get the gen 2 FIPK K&N intake... will both give me a bit better throttle response?

Thing is, these filters are for the life of the car - why quibble over $40?
The only sound difference I hear is a droning at idle, and a tiny his on smalljabs of the throttle - but the S2000 is so noisy that it usually drowns out all of that. The drone may be more related to the gutting of the airbox baffles, and the closing off of the resonator. I have it on all my cars where i went to aftermarket air filter solutions. OEM parts are usually very quiet - filters, brakes, mufflers, etc.

Please excuse the stupid question, but is the aFe filter like the K&N where is needs to be oiled and cleaned? I have heard that the K&N is OK on non-mass-air cars but it can foul a mass air sensor. My other cars had K&N (previous 5.0 mustang owner (had 3), BMW 530i, current big block corvette owner) and hadn't had problems, but virtually every mechanic told me to avoid the 'oil bath' filters on my BMW.
That being said, would any of these mods void the warranty?
Thanks for the feedback.

I'm thinking about picking one of these up for my Comptech intake, did anyone actually notice a difference with it over the foam filter?

Yes, I found the inside of the intake tube, to be coverd with a very fine dust. then I got the AFE. no more foam filters for me.
