Its not a true CAI from the functional standpoint. According to the AEM rep I spoke to yesterday, the V2 produces power by sound waves, not by sucking in cold air. Designwise, he wasn't 100% sure if the tubing and filter placement are similar to the CAI or not, although he told me that he believes it is. Remember the RSX V2 went to a short ram design so the S2000 V2 be differ from the S2000 CAI. He will find out for sure and will get back to me today. He did guarantee "significant" power gains over the current CAI.

Hydrolock is always a potential issue, no matter how small.
The intake is still sucking in cold air, but what mav means is the inatke does not make most of its power by merely sucking in cold air...that only acconts for a portion of the gains. A large portion of the power comes from the resonances set up in the tube (i.e., sound waves). The first version had one diameter/length of tube so it had essentially one resonance spot over the entire rpm band. The second version still has a fixed length, but it uses two tube sizes, so you get the benefit of a resonance at two different rpms.

Thanks for the explanation MacGyver!
Anyone have the V2 on their S2K? Or better yet, has anyone upgraded to the V2 from the V1 on their S2K? If so, please let us know your comments.

The dynos have different baseline S2000 that they compare to. It also seems that the gains are similar.
I guess I am not quite convinced about the sound thing?![bs.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/bs.gif)
Good thing is that they are not selling it for a million dollar difference, there is only a $35 difference on Bulletproof.

If those graphs are correct, I am NOT impressed with version 2. It seems the baseline S dyno'd on the low end of the scale for the 2nd version. With version 1 you got a nice 10 hp spike down low...with the new version, there wasn't anything close to 10 hp until you hit 8,500. They may still be able to sell me on it, but not with those numbers...for the time being, I'm sticking with my v1.

I'm taking a wait and see approach... I really want to see some pics first.
Chiung, I see you ordered one on Tim's group buy, what, if any, intake do you have now?

Mav,
I'm in the process of selling my Comptech:
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=167105
I like the Comptech but took it off before I took my car into the dealer for TSB work (dealer is not mod-friendly) earlier this week.
I want to try something different. The AEM/Injen/4IG type CAI's are "simpler" than the Comptech, but involve cutting and also are at higher risk of hydrolock. They also would be more work at filter maintenance time. Trade-offs...
