AEM EMS Gas mileage
I was wondering if it would be possible to recieve higher gas mileage when swapping to the AEM EMS from a stock ecu. Like anything with the AEM unit it would most likely need quiet a lot of time for the tunning side which is understandable. But when switching what are your thoughts on getting better gas mileage on an N/A car. I'm not trying to justify getting it, I am more just curious what everyone's thoughts are.

Spending $1500 to get better gas mileage... I don't think you will find too many people (my bet would be zero) who have done it. I am sure it is possible that the EMS could do it, but it seems like it is the exact OPPOSITE market for which it is intended.
Perhaps you are better off getting a hardtop, an intake/exhaust combo, or running skinnier tires (obviously not recommended but it would work), or no VTEC for better gas mileage. You would get additional benefits (at least with the hardtop and intake/exhaust) besides gas mileage this way!

I think it would be possible to get better gas mileage from a AEM EMS, you would need to get it tuned for gas mileage. I agree with RWD RCKT though for $1500 its not worth doing.

The ubiquitous beater... $1500 would get you a great beater! My neighbor is selling his Civic for $1000. Looks like ass but it gets 35mpg!
Beaters are everywhere... floss the beater... then you can put the license plate holder on that says your other car is an S2000!

I know that it is not at all a sane idea to purchase the ems for gas mileage. 1500 for a couple more mpg is deffinitly not worth it. I have an EMS and was more curious about swapping maps. Not swapping all the time but more for longer trips that I would take.
Just trying to throw up some more possibilities.

You don't really need to swap maps. Assuming a long cruising period you just tune that range (low TPS, mid-revs) to be conservative. SO you've got your safe but low economy tuning when you put tyour foot down, but conservative tuning when you're cruising. Make the decision how to run with your right foot.
