Wow thanks for all of the info guys!

I got the engine, box, loom, dash etc yesterday - I can't wait - is it wrong to love an engine so much! I'm like a kid at Christmas and I don't even plan to start the conversion until Winter - as the car's currently running a Zetec on Throttle Bodies and a Megasquirt.

I was reseaching exhausts - Chris's look upto the job of keeping this engine quiet.

I shall definitely be speaking to Chris - and/or bribing him with some beer tokens

I'll also document my build (properly this time) in the hope others can find it useful

Thanks again for all the replies - a great forum, glad i found this place!

SOHCmyDOHC

I got to page 13 of your thread- but got sick of the people flaming and complaining.

Well done on your conversion it looks great - could you give me any tips when wiring up the clocks? I wanted to use them too

Cheers,

Murray

There are two reasons to dry sump a F20C in a 7/Clubman. One is that it pulls serious G's (and the F20C is known for oil starvation on fast long lefts). And the other is that it is a tall engine and won't fir under the bonnet otherwise.

Chris's car is dry sumped and just fits. All the new PRB CLubmans are not dry sumped and have a 'power bulge' on the bonnet (and higher center of gravity).

Also, the deciding factor between F and K will be the type of car. The F is a longitudinal mount engine. The K a transverse.

It's possible to break that rule but more trouble than it's worth.

So this drysump kit is most practical when you track your car on a regular basis?
