if anyone else is curious how to adjust GC, the problem is only that the spring is preloaded and therefore pressing down on the perch, causing friction.
i dont suggest trying to overcome this friction with tools.
the solution is to reduce or remove all the preload on the perch. so what i do is get a wrench or screwdriver and stick it under one of the coils right where the top of the shock body is, where the piston comes out.
then you can leverage the spring coil up, removing enough force off the perch so you can rotate it by hand. you just have to do enough at a time to move the perch.
it does slightly damage the paint under the coil. but to me, its not a big deal. no, ive not had a spring failure because of this either. ymmv.

Back when I got my GC's with koni's on the teg, they didn't come with the adjustment wrench either. I stopped by the local ricer shop with the spinner wheels and the ghetto tail lights and said "QUE PASO!" and then said I need a coilover adjustment wrench. The vato dipped his hand in a box of magic junk and pulled an unlabeled funky looking wrench and said "five dolla". The thing worked great.
Moral of the story: any coilover adjustment wrench would work so go borrow one or buy one from anywhere.
