Do this if you want to reduce corrosion resistance and lubrication properties of your coolant. It will aid in heat transfer, but I recommend against doing this with a street-driven, relatively stock car. For nearly all applications, a factory mix (generally 50:50 coolant to DI water ratio) is what you should use. Most newer coolant formulations come pre-mixed, so they are good to go right out of the jug.

I only use Honda type2 premix.

Any coolant that needs to be cut with water is asking for trouble.

Water is acidic. Small amounts of electricity will move through the water, causing pinholes in the heater core.

The s2k is quite new, and I'm sure no one has seen this. Yet.

I guarantee when heater core threads start showing up, those with type2 won't have a problem.

Unique, that totals 110%.

Any idea what might occur if blue type II was mixed with a little green type I?
I'm wondering this too?? Original green in a 2001 mixable with hondas updated blue coolant?

If you want to change coolant types, I recommend that you first flush the old, green type out of your system, then refill using the long-life, blue coolant. That way you get all of the benefits of the new type coolant without any worries about compatibility.

If you still have the original coolant from the factory in your 2001, I would absolutely do a coolant flush and change. Do it now!

I did my coolant change about 4 months ago, followed the directions, but it still didn't take as much coolant as I thought it would. Wasn't sure if a little bit of green in the system would be okay.

I've mixed blue and green and didn't see any ill effects. That doesn't mean there weren't any though. Just none that I noticed immediately. Ive since taken the motor out and and it's all blue now (wasn't a '2k but, was a Honda). I didn't think ANY '2k came with green? Factory fill on all of them was blue wasn't it?

I have an 03 that came with Green Type II factory fill. I was under the impression that it was bad to mix Type I and Type II. I wonder if you got lucky and mixed Type II with Type II. I have no idea where I read that though. My car actually still has Green Type II in it.

EDITED:
I thought that it was:
00-00 Type I Green factory fill
01-01 Type II Green factory fill
02-03 Type II (Green or Blue?) factory fill (Blue Type II made available in jugs off the shelf sometime in 02 I think)
04-07 Type II (Blue?)factory fill

EDIT: I don't know why I use Roman numerals for coolant Types

[QUOTE=SpitfireS,Nov 21 2006, 08:18 AM] I would stick to the 08CLA-G01-8L0

I don't know Sender, my '02 was definetly blue factory fill.
