Yea, I ran it as a bead, then smeared it thin. As thin as I could get it. It's not surprising that it sprung a leak if I think about it now.. Haha

Anyways thanks for all the inputs. I guess its time go remove that bitch again.
yeah don't smear it next time, the two parts mating together will do the smearing and fill in any irregularties so it won't leak.

For low torque bolts I use a small click style torque wrench that measures inch lbs.. When you are under the engine a click style wrench should work better, hard to read a dial wrench IMO. I have one large wrench for 20-250 ft lbs, and a smaller wrench for 0-20 ft lbs (0-240 inch lbs) The small sized torque wrench has saved me quite a bit of grief, I stripped enough bolts in my earlier years that I never want to see another one.

Good luck with things.

So, I dropped the pan, re-did the hondabond and put it back on. But while the pan was off, and I was taking off the remaining gasket from the previous install I noticed something.

These seem to be thin-line cracks on the engine? This image was shot from below and this area is kind of near the baffle pan on the passenger side.

I know the image is kind of blurry as my camera isn't the best. Here is another shot but the flash seems get in the way.

My question is, how serious is this?

A more clearer shot.

P.S.

The car ran fine before I dropped the pan. Is this a slow, cancerous type of problem?

all Hondas have those type of casting marks, they never amount to anything despite looking like cracks. You'll even see them on the exterior of the block sometimes, Perfectly fine.

Man, I hope to jebus you are right. You don't know how much grief finding those cracks gave me. It was almost worse than installing the oil pan to find a leak. Then to have to drop it, scrape all that hondabond off and reinstall it again. haha.

Everything is fine now.. for the moment.. haha
