Accidental gear grind....

Lol, the infamous 2nd gear grind. I swear it's a Honda thing. It was notorious with the EP3, and it seems to be completely random with the S2k as well. I probably would randomly grind 2nd with the AP2 maybe 2-3 times/year. Since I've had the AP1 over the past year probably about the same 2-3 times. I can't really get my head around it as I'll have the clutch completely depressed and it will still do it. Even after adjusting it.
I just look at it as a Honda quirk as any other manual car that I've owned hasn't had this silly little issue. I agree with baZurk, it just makes ya look like a tool when it happens.

If i'm top down i look around and find people to make eye contact with so i can shout at them "I MEANT TO DO THAT OK, ITS A THING PEOPLE DO! AND MY FACE IS ALWAYS THIS RED! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Lol, yeah this is something that happens to all of us. Watch out, it will happen as soon as you try to impress a friend with a quick 1-2 shift to get back onto the power, and he may never let you live it down.

when shifting near redline say one Mississippi as that is almost one second. gives the syncros time to line up the ap1's are made of brass ap2 carbon. I have had a grind on the ap2 trans but only once and I think it was a drink in the cup holder and I didn't have it all the way in gear when I let out the clutch. it happens now if your running a dog box you can bend a shift fork which can happen on a syncro trans but not as fast as the dogs are slightly rounded so the grinding is the shift fork flexing as the dogs bounce off on another your fine. if it pops out of gear you have a problem
