Thumbs down Accident Oil Overfill

I've searched but this is more specific to my case.

When I got my S used, I changed the oil right away, about 5 qts. About 3K miles later I checked my dip stick and it was under the "L." I poured in about 3 qts (didn't know that was overfilled) of oil and drove it for about 150 miles. Would that have any damaging affect on my engine? I hit VTEC a couple of times.

What was the oil level after pouring in those 3 qts??

All depends on how much you overfill... but could affect a lot of oil seals etc...

It was about half the diamond area over. Didn't realized it since I didn't sleep that night and couldn't see the oil level because it was so clear. I drained and refilled it already. Didn't see any smoke out the exhaust.

Thanks for the help. I didn't want to ruin my engine because of a stupid mistake like this.

Except for the concern that it took 3 quarts to fill the engine!

If true, you were running the engine on only 2-2.5 quarts in the sump. I certainly hope THAT did not harm the engine.

I think I was running around 3.5 - 4 qts before I overfilled.
