Default AC Removal

Would there be any ill effects if I pulled out the entire system except the compressor?

If I do pull the compressor, what size belt needs to be swapped? Does a Comptech SC make any parts of the removal any more complicated than what's in the service manual?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you'd do any harm pulling the whole AC system. Getting at the heat exchanger inside the heater core box in the dash might be a lot of work, though. I recall someone (slows2k?) posted about the size of the belt needed if the compressor is absent. The only negative point would be resale value if there is no A/C.
A supercharger would not be affected by this mod as the engine serpentine belt is independent of the S/C drive belt.

AC short belt is a Bando 6PK1145. Should be much cheaper than the Mugen $200 belt.

You will need to have the system evacuated 1st. Removing the the AC pipes/hardlines should be pretty fun. You will have to remove the SC belt to replace the stock drive belt.

I wouldn't consider it if you drive on the street or plan on reselling the car.

Thanks for the belt number, Slows2k. To any future prospective buyer the lack of AC would probably be the last thing they'd notice (interior gut, no cruise, no stock seatbelts, airbags, etc.). I'm at 2637 lbs. Lack of AC (I don't use it anyways) should get me down into the 25xx range. It's just too tempting a mod not to do!

I'm not sure about the S2k in particular but if it's like the Prelude, the entire AC system weighs far less than 50lbs. I think we only got about 15lbs of shit out of the car when we did it on TypeSH's ITS Prelude. The parts weigh nothing as they are primarily aluminum.

If you live where it's hot and don't trailer the car, I recommend leaving it in. Doesn't sound like you are in that category, though.

The above numbers left the blower and vents in. If you pull all that out, and the heater core, you could probably pull 50lbs out. Doubt it would be much more.
