mine died with 50K on the clock. every honda i have owned (RSX, TL, S2000) had a compressor blow on me. mechanic told me they are crap.

This sounds like it could be just the clutch burned up, not the actual compressor. The reason I say that is that you saw it smoking. Usually when a compressor goes it just gets mashed up internally. The clutch can be replaced separately and is a lot easier/cheaper than the whole compressor. (Or also possible is that the compressor is seized which caused the clutch to burn up. See if the compressor itself turns.)

Thanks everyone for the advice.... Right now just Cruzing without the ac and switched the belts out to the smaller one.... Cr now HELLO
