Default ABS light NOT on

hello, I have a 1999 s2000, the ABS light does not come on at all when you first turn the ign on, the fault code in the ABS ECU shows battery power failure, the sensors are all working(shown in the live diagnostics)
I was wondering whether the ABS circuit works like some of the older charging circuits on cars, where if the charging bulb has blown, the circuit is not complete and will not charge?
could this be the same on the ABS circuit, just wondered if someone has removed the ABS light because of a fault, would this then break the ABS circuit, could this cause the 'battery power failure' fault to the ABS pump. Both the small and large ABS fuses under the bonnet are good and have live supplies,
any help would be gratefully appreciated

I would just go down the road in a secluded area and give the brake pedal a good solid mash. If the ABS engages, your worries are over. If it doesn't then start looking for a problem.

If anyone knows about the electrical side of the ABS system, please let me know
thanks
