? about oil change
Going on a all expenses paid for by uncle Sam to Iraq for about 5 months. I have about 4,000 miles in my s2k. I'll be leaving around Jan 1st. What type of oil should I put in before I leave? He will be in my garage for the whole 5 months. also, I know that you should leave the factory oil for about 7,000 miles. should I wait till I get back?
Thanks

If you did a lot of short distance driving before storage, I'd consider changing it out. If those 4000 miles had some decent highway miles, you're probably safe to store as is. Just try to make your final drive a relatively long one (over 1/2 hour) to get rid of moisture in your engine & exhaust before parking it. Don't just idle the car for a half hour.
If you can hook up a trickle charger to the battery while you're gone, this will prevent your battery from sulfating. Sulfation takes place at an accelerated rate when the battery is partially discharged. Since your clock & door locks gradually drain the battery over time, your battery will last longer if it is kept fully charged.
I salute you for your courage and patriotism. Stay safe!

If you get to 5k miles, I would change the oil. One of the jobs that oil does is to suspend contaminants. Change it so that there is fresh oil in the car during storage. Be sure to use a non-synthetic formulation.
I would also make sure that the tires are pumped up (35 psi) and I would disconnect the battery (rather than use a trickle charger) to prevent charge loss.
Here's another thank you for your service. Stay safe!
