You can use straight le607. Yes, it is remove and replace, just like changing engine oil.

The stuff is thick and I would not use it in cold temps. Pep Boys sells a hand pump that screws on to the bottle and makes the job pretty easy. Remember to replace the washers and torque the bolts. I run the LE607 all year round and have had no issues with it. Good Luck

Don't get paranoid about those "cold temps"
LE-607 pour point is -11F (-24C)
Thats pretty low.
Have you seen pour points of other straight SAE 90 weights?
Yes, a straight 90 weight IS what Honda recommends, for a reason.
Unless the car has to be started at low those temps on a regular basis, LE-607 is probably your best choice in diff oil.

LE-607

Tip: warm the bottle up in some hot water.
And it doesnt hurt to get a little extra in, to do that lift the car at the left, you'll be able to get a little more in.
Don't overdo it, use no more then 1 bottle (quart)

You can also lay a bottle of 607 out in the sun when you start the fluid change. By the time you get the car jacked up and all the fluid drained, it will be plenty warm.

I either put my bottle in the oven at 200*F for a little while or in a bucket of hot tap water and it makes things a lot easier. I was changing my diff fluid when it was below 50 degrees outside once without heating the bottle up first and when I knocked the bottle over none came out and the pump was not strong enough to suction it up; put it in hot tap water for a few mins and it was good to go.

I bought a few quarts to have on hand from Ricks, and I noticed that when I open the bottle there are what look like tiny dark red "flakes" or some sort of sediment in the new containers of '607. Is this normal?

Next time: shake before use.
Also goes for engine oil thats been sitting for a while.

The Almasol additive is very fine.
In a LE flyer they mentioned there were 8000 Almasol particles in the period at the end of that sentence.

Luckily I hadn't used it yet, but I thought it was probably an additive in suspension. Thanks for clarifying (pun intended).
