Default About to buy 3rd Chain Tensioner . . .

My 2002 S has 90k miles on it and I am about to buy a 3rd chain tensioner - so this will be the 4th one on my S2k.

Is it normal that I have had some many failures with this device?

I dont guess there are any other options out there to fix this besides buying another tensioner from Honda which will go out in another year...

Are there any contributing factors which cause this device to fail?

My S2k has been sucking my wallet dry over the past couple months (blown diff, new clutch, new clutch master cylinder, getting misfires right now, and the chain tensioner of course) so I am getting a little bit frustrated having to continually replace this part every year or so...

OK - rant over. Any advice is appreciated...

Although I am fairly certain I just have to suck it up and buy another one of these from HTG.

change your oil to Castrol Edge... mine stop after changing...

I used to use Mobil 1 for almost 4 years then one day i woke up and realize Mobil 1 sucks ass.

no seriously change it, its going to be my 3rd oil change with Castrol Edge after a week of using it, my TCT stop until now no sound. Try it

I find it ridiculous that these things fail regularly, and mine is still going strong at 115k.

its mobil 1. you can either replace ur tct or just sandblast the worm gear. the reason it wears out is the worm gear smooths itself out due to the lack of lubrication from mobil one.

Thanks for the advice... will give that a shot this weekend... time for an oil change anyway. I used to use Mobil 1 but the last few oil changes I had done at a shop and just used a high mileage oil.
