Abnormal noise from rear when slowing down
Ap1 @ 94,XXX bone stock.
I notice a metal to metal rotational noise heard from the rear wheels when slowing down <10mph (with or without braking). I could also hear SLIGHTLY when starting to accelerate, but you can definitely hear when coming to stop. It's not brake wear indicator. (it's about 5mms left) But it sounds very similar
What I've done so far is
- Lift the car in air and fully visual inspected underneath the vehicle
- Resurfaced rear rotors and re-greased pads/caliper rubbing areas
- Grinned down rear pads in case of defect brake pad particle chunks
- Ran the car on the lift and slowly braked to see noise appears but no noise in air
I test drove afterwards and it was quiet for about 15 min and noise came back . I'm not too sure if pads are OEM. I bought it used last year.
My next step is to install new rear pads to make sure 100% it's not coming from braking system.
Any ideas s2kI? Thanks!

I have had the same issue for the last couple of years. for me it seems to only happen when spring is going into summer. I thought it was a slowly seizing caliper but Billman said they seemed fine a few weeks ago. I also sometimes get this when I am in reverse and almost coming to a stop. truthfully I took his advice and just let it be and it has since pretty much disappeared again....til next year I guess lol

I haven't changed brake pads yet. Linings are not worn enough to change it. But sometime this week or next, I'm planning on changing pads only and hopefully it'll go away
