I am pretty sure Max piston velocity is at 1/2 stroke.

The RS4 boys posted this list. It was funny to see the S2K in #2. Piston Speed: 4965 Ft/min which equals 56.4 miles/hour...and doesn't seem very fast. Not sure if they have posted max piston speed or mean piston speed, but this doesn't seem like an important metric in any case.

1. Audi RS4
Engine Code: N/A
Bore/Stroke: 3.33" x 3.65"
Redline: 8250rpm
Piston Speed: 5024 ft/min

Those numbers are average speeds over a single rotation of the crank.

56.4 mph isn't very fast if you're talking about an entire car. But think about doing 0 to 56.4 to 0 every 1/150th of a second. It's not exactly a linear relationship, but let's just say it takes the piston 1/300th of a second to go from 0 to 56.4mph. That's the same acceleration as 0 to 16,920mph in one second. Or, 775.5 times the acceleration of gravity.

Ok here are some plots based on the calculations i did.

The max velocity in tha AP1 is 41.0 m/s at 76 degrees from top dead center.
The max velocity in the AP2 is 39.7 m/s at 74 degrees from top dead center.

The max acceleration in the AP1 is roughly 47500 m/s^2 at top dead center
The max acceleration is the AP2 is roughly 41500 m/s^2 at top dead center

Quick Reply: at 9000 RPM, how many rotations per second is the crank spinning?
