I moved up a weight class just for the insurance for spirited summer driving.
The High Mileage is also good (in general, not just for high mileage cars - It's got a Group IV base and great additives).
**I know guys that burn, but I would check your PCV since you are 'high' mileage**
Also, grab a new valve cover gasket if your going to do the change (it's real simple, since again your 'high' mileage).

Looks like i'll be returning my regular Mobil1 to autozone to exchange for some Mobil1 extended life/high mileage.
Why the new valve cover gasket? Had my car on a lift about 2 weeks ago and everything was dry.
And im still a NEWBIE so i can ask this....Whats a PCV and how do i check it? Is that the thing that you shake to check it and it sounds like it has a spring in it or something?
Thanks,
Colton

Mobil 1 is OK really.
Our engine will "use" oil when in vetc, because of the high RPM. Moving up to a higher oil weight will not do much. If you are going thru that much oil then have a leak down and compression test done.

i agree...do a leakdown test.
i also recommend purchasing an AP2 valve cover, as they redesigned the PCV Valve position, which has proven to reduce oil consumption in the ap2 cars.

Here's what I would do if I had just bought this car, finances permitting:
1. Have a good mechanic look it over for any obvious problems that need tended to (belts, hoses, fluids, brakes, etc.)
2. Start cleaning the engine up with this product before deciding on which oil to use:
http://auto-rx.com/
You will need to buy three Honda 15400-PCX-004 oil filters and two cheap 5 qt jugs of cheap 10W30 dino oil. Then follow these application instructions:
http://www.auto-rx.com/pages/applications.htm
3. Change the air filter.
4. Clean the fuel system and throttle body.
5. Change the PCV valve.
6. Change the spark plugs.
7. Flush the coolant.
8. Change the tranny fluid with Honda MTF.
9. Change the differential fluid with LE1605.
10. Flush the clutch fluid.
11. Flush the brake fluid and then bleed the brakes.
12. Valve adjustment/valve retainer inspection (you actually might want to do this first!)
This should get you started. Good luck and have fun with your new S2000!

The reason they use oil is the way the cyl walls are squirted with oil to help them stay cool at 9000rpm.
I really don't think there is that big of a difference in the cam covers between ap1 & ap2. The PCV did change though. I haven't heard that the different PCV reduced oil consumption.
The PCV is an emissions control device that vents gasses from under the cam cover into the air intake to burn in the combustion chamber.
You shouldn't need to replace the cam cover gasket unless you can see that it is leaking. My '01 has just a couple thousand miles shy of 90k and the gasket is not leaking.

The early cars (MY00-01) use more oil than later years. Although a quart a month is a bit excessive unless you are putting 1500-2000miles on the car each month. 1-2 quarts per 3000 miles is not uncommon for an early car.

it might help reduce oil consumption but i can tell you that not all lose oil is from the pvc
