I always suggest synth. But if you change oil every 3k miles dino will do the job. I just never want to leave anything to chance. I use 0-40 Amsoil and change every 5-7.5k even tho they say you can go 15k

Well i bought the car with 86,000 on it and i have no idea if it was changed before i bought it. I have already bought 6 quarts of Mobil 1. Why Amsoil? Is it better than Mobile 1?

Thanks,
Colton

If you read the "oil journals" sticky, the tests done show amsoil ATM 10w-30 to the have best numbers. However not everyone thinks that numbers are a true indicator of oil quality. And mobil one was only mid field on the tests. But its still a good oil, and I would use it with confidence. Its just not "the best" if thats what you want.

I got 6 quarts because the engine holds like 5.2qts or something so i need another quart to top it off.

Always keep oil in the trunk, and check every time you fill the gas tank

Why do S2000's burn oil?

Mine LITERALLY goes through a quart every month.

Your either burning or losing oil.
I would move up to one viscosity level over the oil your using now.

Well to tell you the truth, i don't know whats in there now as I have never changed the oil since i bought the S. Now that i think about it, the used car dealership that i bought the car from may have put some cheap/wrong type of oil in it so im just going to use my 10W30 Mobil 1 that i just bought and see how it does.

I heard that using sythetic oils on an older engine will cause cracks in the seals - in contrast, Mobil 1's website says this is a myth. Any comments on this?

Thanks,
Colton
