It means you need a new catalytic convertor if you want to remain emissions legal.
Or you installed a test pipe.
Or you installed a test pipe.
If I dont care about being emmisions legal can I just remove the cat, and replace it by regular tubing? Then bypass the sensor"?

Then bypass the sensor"? You will need to "Fool" the sensor. Some Test pipe has an mount for the O2 Sensor that pull is back out of the stream. For others, the anti fouler trick seams to work.
Do a search for Test Pipe.

Ok, I'll do a search for a test pipe, but in the mean time, how do I know that the problem is the Catalytic convertoer, and not the sensor?
does the CEL throw a different code if the sensor has gone bad? or is it the same code for a bad sensor as it is for a bad catalytic converter?
I just dont want to go through the headache of trying to find a catalytic converter, or a test pipe, spend the money only to find out that it was just the sensor.

P0420 is always a converter, not a sensor issue.
Where do you suggest I shop for a test pipe? Any on-line stores with good prices??
THanks again!!
