46,000 mile service?
I bought my used '2000 S2K in march of 2005 with only 27,300 miles at the Honda dealership. I have never gotten a "mile service" on it yet. Now it has 46,000 miles. I was told by my personal Honda mechanic that I dont need one yet for a while. But with the car being 6 years old and even with low miles, shouldn't I still get one? Or do you think the dealership took care of a service check right before it was sold? Even if they did, should I still get another one now? How often should I get these mile services? Thanks!

No. In fact, this has been covered several times recently. I even had a thread where I listed all of the things that you can do yourself, with links to info on how to do them.
i have to try to find it....

by thw way WisconsinS2K, I saw your launch videos just now. I heard that launches are bad for the S2K cuz we have weak axles. Is this true? Or do you have braces, swaybars to overcome this?

the S2000 can take launches with no problem. the issue is that people need to be sure they are doing it right.

Here's the official deal from Honda. I've bolded the things that are done to the car, all others are "inspections."
45,000 miles Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended service for your 2000 Honda S2000:
--Clean air cleaner element.
--Replace coolant; use Genuine Honda Antifreeze/Coolant mixed 50/50 with water.
--Replace brake fluid; use Genuine Honda DOT 3.
--Replace engine oil and filter.
--Inspect front and rear brakes.
----Check pads and discs for wear (thickness) and damage.
----Check calipers for leaks and check tightness of mount bolts.
--Check tire inflation and condition.
--Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox and rack boots.
----Check steering linkage for looseness.
----Check fluid lines for damage and leaks.
--Inspect suspension components.
----Check bolts for tightness.
----Check condition of ball joint boots for deterioration and damage.
--Inspect driveshaft for cracks and check boot bands for tightness.
--Check parking brake adjustment. Should be fully applied within 9 to 13 clicks.
--Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS). Check the master cylinder, proportioning controlvalve and ABS modulator for damage and leakage.
--Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks. If needed, add transmission fluid, engine coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
--Inspect cooling system hoses and connections.
----Check for damage, leaks and deterioration.
----Check for proper fan operation.
--Inspect exhaust system. Check catalytic converter heat shield, exhaust pipe, and muffler for damage, leaks, and tightness.
--Inspect fuel lines and connections. Check for leaks.
--Replace air cleaner element.
--Replace differential oil (use SAE90 hypoid gear oil, API classification GL5 or GL6).
--Lubricate all locks, latches, and hinges with multi-purpose grease or Honda White Lithium Grease.
