Typically if the rearend makes any noise it is bad. Usually it will be a whining noise or howl if there is a problem. It might show up on acceleration, deceleration or at a constant speed. If done correctly there should be no difference from a new factory rear end, very quiet.

There was about 6 hours of shoptime involved in total including a fluid changeout and inspection after 500miles...
Cranked on it today for the first time when a porsche carrera I was behind at a stoplight wanted to play...he canned it...i canned it and passed him in the right lane pullover and all before i came out of second...walking him all the way...damn that was fun...and i had 2 people in my car and a load in the trunk. He ran me down at the next light and wanted to know what was in it...naturally i told him it was stock.
I'm running a mileage check on them now but just looking I'm not seeing the drop in mileage. I'll know on the next fillup. I do notice a little noise with the top up right around 4500 rpm on a neutral or just positive throttle...not very much different in sound than the gears it came with...
I do notice a few more revs on the tach at highway speed...and a lot more strengh in the upper gears...it almos feels like 5th is now my 1 to 1
