4 bars plus high temp reading
first off, the search button and I became enemies so thats not working for me.
Anyways, today i was stuck in traffic for more than 1/2 and i saw 4 bars.
Does anybody know the temp range?
Now some background info.
I'm supercharged w/ stock radiator and cap, and thermostat. I have a temp gauge connected to the upper radiator hose which at the time was reading 243 and climbing. ( I connected to the upper radiator hose instead of the hose that goes from the intake manifold to the throttle body because I could not get the temps to go over 150F. (and yes, it was grounded))
When I reached about 145 at the temp gauge (not sure I trust these digi gauges too much either) and 4 bars on the stock gauge i pulled over and shut it off as the car was also very sluggish in response.
Suggestions? spoon or mugen thermostat and fan switch? and who sells?''
Usually crusing around town temp will be around 200F. On the highway it will be between 195and 180F. Today was the first time stuck in traffic in hot weather...

the 4th bar lights on a stock car at 235deg.
The gauge is controlled by the PCM from the ECT sensor signal.
Is the gauge a recent install? Has the cooling system been opened recently?
With the gauge sender in the upper hose, and a much higher reading from the engine, it sounds like the thermostat is not opening.

235? and we got 2 more bars? Gees, like I am going to wait for the 5th bar to light up.

Actually I just thought of something if I look at the simpler things
I got a front mount intercooler which obviously restrics flow to the radiator and I also have a bumper grille that may be restricing a bit of flow... I will let you all know
