Very, very interesting....

Thanks a lot! I will do some more research on this upgrade, see if it is for me.

I just want to reiterate what others have been saying. The 4.77 gearset, imho, is a bit much for even a NA car...and it would be way too much for a FI car. I have the 4.44 with my turbo (used to be supercharged, and with the 4.44) and it's nice...but it really is borderline. Anything more would be completely annoying. For example, with the 4.77 you would be in VTEC in 6th gear somewhere around 90-100 MPH. That means that highway crusing at 70-80 would be around 5K RPM...that's just insane.

The 4.44 was good for .42 seconds off my 1/4 mile time.

Wes, how fast did you eventually end up going in the 1/4 with the comptech blower?

I don't quote that number because it doesn't really have relevance due to my history of rear end problems and the way I barely launched the car at the track. With slipping the clutch out at 5K-6K RPM with just the blower the best I could do was 13.9. With the 4.44 and the exact same type of non-launchng I ran a 13.5. The car was definitely good for a 12.9-13.1 if it could have been launched in VTEC. It's even possible that my built up rear end can handle it, I just don't want to find out.

yes that would be an expensive part to replace just to see if you can do it. :/

Hey Wes,Im curious about your experience with the 4.44 and turbo combo. Have you tryed launching with the 4.44s in your car recently with the turbo installed? Also how many Psi are you running with the turbo?

WOW that was a quick response!

Very nice!! Im anxious to hear your impressions when you pick it up tonight. Post up the dyno when you get a chance. Id really like to see that torque curve!!!! I know how it feels being away from your S for soooo long. I havent seen my car in about 6 weeks Did you have a hard time tuning it with the larger injectors? I take it your still using the FMU. I posted up a new topic in this forum HERE about that issue im having with my setup. Check it out and let me know what you think.

too much of what....OF A GOOD THING?!!!

i run 477's with S/C....and i've had 444's before. what is the mystery?, the car accelerates faster with the shorter gears. only if you change the power curve with good midrange would you want longer gearing, ala turbo, otherwise get the 477's, you can always decrease effective gearing with larger diam rear tire..which looks great as it fills up the wheel arches and increases the rake of the car's stance.
