richmond comes with directions indicating correct backlash settings. of .008 people are doing .006 so when break in occurs opens up to .008.
the correct shim has to be used to create the pinion depth between the pinion gear and main bearing also to get this your tech may have to uninstall/reinstall 2 maybe 3 times. i used my old crush washer to check for the correct shim/pinion depth and the new crush sleeve washer for final install. good luck.

ive been stuck on 4.44 since last year but i think you guys are going to make me get the 4.77s.the only problem i have is that the 4.77 will make me shift into 5th before the end of the quarter.but the more i think about it i only go to the track like 2-3 times a year(being the closest track is out of state).

Actually, it will not make you shift. It tops out of fouth gear at 102. And if you get larger rear tires for grip, the diameter might be more than stock which would cause it to increase to around 103-104. You wont trap any higher than 103 stock wtih 4.777. Normally trap speeds are 98-102

in my ap2 i bounce off the rev limiter twice before the trap and i was at 101 mph with the stock 4.10's but the ap1 does have that extra 1000 rpms. after the gear install you'll be shifting into 5th alot sooner
