are there many tracks where you would see speeds higher than 140mph? I'm going to one in June and apparent should only hit 130 or so and it looks like a really long straightaway.

Isn't California Speedway just a giant oval, 2 miles in circumference?

no, they have an infield section that uses the oval as a straightaway.

Saiyajin,

I'd be really surprised if you top out your car at Mosport even with the 4.77's. Don't forget that straightaway is uphill.

Look, get the 4.77's and if you don't like them you can always sell them for what you paid and get the 4.44's.

Using The Reverend's gearing calculator shows that 6th gear @ 4K RPMs is 63.9 MPH with the 4.77's, and 5th gear @ 4K RPMs is 62.1 MPH with the stock gearing. Neither the tachometer or speedometer in the S2000 is particularly acurate.

I think the only times the 4.77's would be slower are those tracks with big straightaways, and any area on the track which requires an extra shift.

I haven't even been on a track yet, I just want to have fun driving around. I'm not too big on faster / slower, whats more fun do you think?

The shorter the final drive (higher number), the more you have to shift, though. It's like it multyplies (sp) the transmission gears and you have to shift quicker.
