Don't forget abput the noise issue. There was a big issue with gear whine with the 4.57s. The 4.56s are supposed to fix this problem, but some people still have some whine. The 4.77s and 4.44s have no gear whine if installed correctly. They are OEM.

Well I had 4.44s in my 01 and just switched to 4.77 and will never go back. Its night and day. Didn't really feel the same about the switch from stock to 4.44. Better for sure, but not that big of a deal. Good for highway driving though. The 4.56 aren't much change from the 4.44's so I'm sure I'd feel about the same about those as I did the 4.44s. If you drive short trips and around town with occasional longer trips the 4.77s are great. If you are mainly highway, then the 4.56 are probably the rights choice.

Also, the 4.77s could use a wider tire in back to help with traction, but then you may mess up your diff. From a stop or slow roll, there is no possibility my car with the 4.44s would have kept up with my car with the 4.77s. Same for highway, except if I were to push it over 130 which is pretty stupid.

I don't remember anyway switching back from 4.77s to a less aggressive gear, but many have done what I did.
Anyone have any experience with the 4.77s in an AP2 tranny?? I heard thats its only recommended for track use.

To answer your question, I would give it a "1/2" a
My reason .................... Your top speed would be limited to about 135 mph. If you don't mind this, then it's no big deal. Because of the revised 6th gear on your car, your cruising rpm won't be much different than an AP1 with similar FD gears. Your first 4 gears would behave much like an AP1 with 4.8 final drive. The big difference being that you have a lower redline.
The benefit of your 6th gear and your gear 1 to 4 performance is the only reason why I don't give it a "whole"
How you would rate it will depend on how you view these factors.

make sure you test drive both. As far as i know, 4.44 doesnt make any noise at all. The whinning noise can be very annoying at times unless you really dont mind it

just got my 4.56 and to be honest I wish I got the 4.77s.

I'd like even more pep in the lower gears and I could live with a few more revs on the HW.
