30k Maintenance Question

Default 30k Maintenance Question

Helms lists the master cylinder piston as something to grease at least once a year. This requires opening the cylinder and looks like a lot of trouble.

Is this a common maintenance practice with other manufacturers? Is it really necessary?

They are probably talking about greasing the pushrod, where it goes into the master piston. Never done it myself, or for any of my customers.

I've never done it on this car nor have I done it on any car I've ever owned. After about 10 or 20 years when the master goes, buy a new one.

Where in the Manual are you looking? Most likely they are talking about the pedal linkage/pushrod under the dash. There isn't anything to lubricate inside the master cylinder that the brake fluid isn't allready doing.

I am curious about what this involes as well. Service manual pages 3-2 and 3-3 item 10. It does not look like what they are talking about is under the dash. My only useful input.
